Mental Health Is Everyone’s Business
Currently 1 in 6 school children are living with a diagnosable mental health condition, and schools are playing a ‘frontline role’ (Transforming children and young people’s mental health provision – GOV.UK, 2017) in supporting them. The Liverpool WSA Partnership has been working to support and provide training for school staff around a range of topics surrounding mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Training is provided free of charge to schools (with the exception of the DfE funded WSA Senior Lead Training). Apply for the grant here.
We believe that all school staff should have some basic training and awareness around mental health, resilience and wellbeing in order to support pupils effectively. This training is available throughout the year through Liverpool CAMHS Bitesize offer. In addition we have recommended more specialised training for Pastoral Staff, Mental Health Leads and Senior Mental Health Leads.
